First staged in 2016, What She Said is a piece of headphone verbatim theatre about contemporary Canadian women and their relationships with their bodies. The play was crafted from over one hundred hours of interviews with individuals who identify as women collected over a twelve month period in unique group interview sessions called “Chatrooms”. Now, with support from Ontario Arts Council, we are hoping to open up this process to a more pluralistic group of women. It is our goal to facilitate another one hundred hours of dialogue exploring what it means to be a woman today, how our bodies impact the way we move through the world, and the intersecting factors that change these experiences.
To facilitate this process, we are looking to assemble a diverse team of individuals who use she/her pronouns and/or identify as women. This includes, but is not limited to, people of colour, Indigenous peoples, individuals in the 2SLGBTQIAP community, mad individuals, individuals with disabilities, and any other groups whose voices has been historically marginalized. Our Interview Facilitators will help consult with us on best practices for the project, organize, and lead Chatrooms within their communities.
Responsibilities will be as follows:
Participate in an Off-Key Chatroom training and consultation session
Help to develop a strategy for creating safe and inclusive spaces for sharing
Find 6-8 participants for each Chatroom session
Coordinate and lead two Chatroom sessions with up to eight participants (around two hours in length)
Coordinate one-on-one follow-up interviews with participants
Note: These responsibilities are subject to change based upon consultation with the selected Interview Facilitators.
Please apply below by Friday, February 22nd.
